Honoring Black History and Artists Through the Unifying Power of Music
Charter was proud to partner once again with Smithsonian Channel on a series of virtual panel discussions, this time featuring elected officials, local arts organizations, and the folk music group Our Native Daughters. The events celebrated the release of Smithsonian Channel’s documentary, Reclaiming History: Our Native Daughters, a film about the folk group’s four musicians, who share important stories about Black history through their music.

Celebrating the Launch of the Black News Channel and Diversity in Programming
This week Charter celebrated the upcoming launch of the Black News Channel, the first and only African American-focused 24/7 news network. We are excited to be one of the first pay TV providers to offer the channel on our line-ups in some of our biggest markets starting in January.

Spectrum is proud to partner with TV One’s CLEO TV, a lifestyle and entertainment network targeting millennial and gen X women of color for their SHE SPEAKS. WE LISTEN! tour. CLEO SPEAKS is aimed at giving dynamic women a platform to speak about their diverse experiences. The women profiled in the series reveal the personal and emotional journeys that have shaped their careers and influenced their success.

Teaming Up with Wisconsin’s Leadership to Celebrate LULAC
Charter was proud to team up with Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, County Executive Chris Abele, and Chief of Police Alfonso Morales to welcome the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and celebrate its 90th Annual LULAC National Convention and Exposition. At the “Wisconsin Celebration” event supporting local LULAC programs, Charter Regional Vice President Gary Underwood introduced keynote speaker Governor Evers.

Recently, Charter’s Washington D.C. office had the opportunity team up with the Duke Ellington School of the Performing Arts. Established in 1974, the Duke Ellington School is the sole D.C. public high school to offer a dual curriculum encompassing professional arts training and academic enrichment in preparation for college and careers in the arts.

Having a strong community starts with good-paying jobs. When jobs come to a town, neighborhoods and families benefit. Yet for too long in some communities, the number of jobs has been shrinking instead of growing. To help reverse that trend, Charter Communications is committed to hiring 20,000 workers by 2020. That’s why I am so proud to lead our first fully bilingual call center in McAllen where today we are holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
