From the programming, products, and services we offer our more than 31 million customers, to our supply chain, to our 96,000 employees – Charter is committed to diversity and inclusion in every aspect of our business. As part of this commitment, we are constantly striving to understand the unique interests of our customers and give a voice to the issues and priorities that matter to them, as well as help inform, inspire, and empower audiences across the country.
Charter recently put that commitment into action, announcing a nationwide distribution agreement with Multicultural News Network (MNN), a 24-hour, non-partisan national news network that will bring an unbiased forum for the voices of America’s underserved multicultural communities. MNN will produce live daily news and other programming and special content to serve multicultural communities including, but not limited to: African-Americans, Hispanics, LGBTQ, Asians, Native Americans, people of Middle Eastern descent, and others. Much of MNN’s content will be produced and delivered by its respective multicultural community to ensure their authentic voice is being heard on a regular and national basis.
"Charter is dedicated to offering our customers the best programming that showcases diverse voices and perspectives. We look forward to adding Multicultural News Network to our lineup and giving Spectrum customers access to its topical news and issues-oriented multicultural programming."
"Charter has been an unconditional supporter of me and my companies since my first interactions with my broadcast TV station group in 2015. It is to no surprise that Charter is the first major multichannel video programming distributor (MVPD) to agree to launch MNN this year. They were also the first MVPD to offer to launch MNN in 2018 when they were first introduced to the network. Working with their programming distribution department and multicultural team has been refreshing. As one of the few black-owned media companies in the United States, I can confirm that Charter is a true advocate for diversity in media and, in my opinion, has been one of the industry leaders and on the forefront of DE&I. I am hopeful that others will take note of Charter’s success in this area and join this necessary movement."
Charter is proud to reach a diverse customer base, serving 21 of the top 25 African American television market areas and 20 of the top 25 Hispanic television market areas. In fact, multicultural communities make up a majority of the population in many of Charter’s largest markets, including New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas, and San Antonio.
We offer robust programming options including from Black-owned and Black-focused networks, including ASPiRE, Revolt, Bounce TV, The Impact Network, BET, BET Her, TV One, Cleo TV, and OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network). In February 2020, we became the first major Pay TV provider to offer Black News Channel, the country’s only 24/7 African American-focused news network.
In addition, Charter developed Spectrum’s Mi Plan Latino — one of the most robust Latino packages of any major cable provider – which includes 130+ channels with more than 75 Spanish language networks. In 2020 we also expanded our Spectrum TV lineup to include more Hispanic-focused TV networks, including Kids Street, Tarima, ¡Hola! TV, Inglés Para Todos, and Hogar.
We are excited to add Multicultural News Network to our long list of diverse programming offerings that provide our customers with the content that is most relevant and impactful to them.
