In a world full of online threats and scams, securing America’s internet networks and devices matters more than ever. Charter devotes extensive resources, personnel, and time to defending against, evaluating, monitoring, and researching potential and emerging cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.
Charter blocks 350 million online threats on average every month.
Charter’s cybersecurity program employs layered risk detection, monitoring, and response tools and controls to support our ongoing analysis and mitigation of continuously evolving threats.

Our cybersecurity strategy is focused on protecting the security and integrity of our systems, networks, databases and applications, and both protecting our customers and arming them with tools and information to help them do the same. These efforts include:
- Securing the Internet Ecosystem | Charter has actively worked to secure the Internet ecosystem by deploying advanced protections such as Secure Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) infrastructure, encrypted Domain Name Services (DNS), and Domain Messaging Authentication Reporting (DMARC).
- Advancing U.S. National Security Priorities | Charter is a leader in safeguarding U.S. communications networks from foreign threats and is firmly committed to advancing U.S. national security priorities, including by refraining from using any services and equipment that appear on the FCC’s Covered List of entities deemed to pose national security risks.
- Collaborating with the U.S. Government and Industry on Threat Intelligence Sharing | Charter devotes extensive personnel and resources to enhance cybersecurity threat intelligence sharing practices, including by participating in classified briefings, engaging in information-sharing to ensure the timely dissemination of actionable cyber threat intelligence and helping to establish the next-generation cybersecurity-focused Information Sharing and Analysis Center model (C2 ISAC) which will facilitate real-time threat intelligence sharing among members. Charter also participates in public-private partnerships, including:

- Enhancing Security for Consumer Devices | Charter is enhancing the security of the devices we offer our customers. For example, Spectrum Advanced WiFi offers AI-enabled protection to safeguard all of the devices connected to our customers’ networks – including mobile phones and laptops – by automatically blocking malicious websites and Internet-originated attacks and preventing an already-compromised device in the home from flooding internet locations with traffic.
- Spectrum Security Suite: Essential Protections | Spectrum Security Suite, included with Spectrum Internet, provides additional complementary protections, including:
- Antivirus protection with automatic virus removal
- Firewall feature to protect private data and allow only safe Internet connections
- Multi-computer protection for up to 10 laptops and computers
- Browsing protection to block harmful websites
- Antibot scanner to detect and remove malicious software on Windows computers
- Online parental controls that allow you to set time limits, monitor web activity and block certain websites
From security and event monitoring capabilities to detailed incident response plans and other advanced detection, prevention and protection capabilities, Charter has made substantial investments in cybersecurity programs and processes. And cybersecurity will continue to be a top priority and core business objective for us because our ability to maintain and grow customer relationships depends on our customers’ trust in our network and their ability to feel safe and secure online.
