Charter Communications has made disaster preparedness a top priority. The same is true for disaster recovery. In the wake of Oregon’s McKenzie River Fire last September, Charter immediately began to rebuild critical infrastructure in order to reconnect devastated communities. The rebuild completed on schedule in January, with a full restoration of Spectrum Internet, TV, and phone services.
All told, Charter rebuilt more than 30 miles of network destroyed in the wildfire. This work, done in partnership with Lane Electric, Eugene Electric, and Water Board (EWEB), restores service to the area between Vida and McKenzie Bridge. Many local residents have contacted Charter to praise the prompt and high-quality work.
Danielle Wade, Spectrum’s Area Vice President, spoke with McKenzie Recovery about the project’s success: “Immediately upon assessing the damage, we knew completing these repairs was going to be a massive project that would require a substantial investment. We live and work in these communities, so many of our employees were personally impacted by the fires. I couldn’t be prouder of their response and the commitment Spectrum made to helping rebuild this area.”
