ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Student artists at Buncombe County Schools get $1,000 in college scholarships, thanks to Charter Communications.

Students also have the chance to have their artwork hung up in the company’s building.

The artwork and award are a part of Buncombe County School district’s partnership with Charter. It also encourages students to be creative.

“Without creativity, you might not see the wonderful programming you see on Charter television or the internet,” Patti Michel, with Charter Communications, said. “It’s great we had students locally that wanted to submit some artwork for this.”

Charter plans to form partnerships with other local school districts, as well.
